Pythonesque Politics

I have always thought of politics as vaguely Pythonesque. Now our National Government is absurdly going that way.

First we have the Prime Minister John Key doing a very good imitation of John Cleese as Basil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers over his reaction to the Worth affair.

As for Dr Worth what did he think he was doing? How did he get the title Dr? Baldric is more appropriate.

Melissa Lee qualifies for the position of Minister of Silly Talk after her statements about Auckland.

We should be able to expect better, but I am sure that before long we will see more silliness as our MPs try to give the impression that they are doing something competent.

Auckland Super City

We should not forget it was a National Government that pulled down Broadcasting House in Wellington in an act of vandalism, only surpassed by the vandalism of the Taliban when they blew up statues of Buddha. OK, Broadcasting House was not as old as the statues but the act was the same attack on freedom of speech and thought. An explicit threat to all who would oppose them by a self-righteous, holier-than-thou group of Oligarchs who would turn every one to the same drab way of thinking.

Now we have Auckland Super City being foisted on us. No prior discussion, no democratic process of finding out what the people of Auckland want. Ignoring their own advisers and destroying the good and replacing it with their own centralised command structure from their own despotic plutocracy.

When the Auckland Super City is complete what other Cities will have the same fate? Wellington, Hutt Valley and Poriua watch out.

The economic recession was created by bankers, accountants and business. What idiocy that they are now in charge of the recovery. Now they are putting those failed oligarchs in charge of our cities.

What hope have we?
